Hillside Elementary School

Hillside Elementary School is located on Le Roy Avenue in the hills of Berkeley.  It is a beautiful example of Tudor Revival architecture.  It is on the National Register of Historic Places.  Yet it is in total decay... a beautiful but wasted building.

Free Day at the Oakland Museum of California

The first Sunday of every month admission is free at the Oakland Museum of California.  We go almost every month.  We went yesterday and the entryway art installation had been adapted to include an amazing mural of Oakland.

Stopped into Half Price Books and look what I found.  What a treasure.  Watercolors and sketches by 8th grade students from the 1960's who attended Herbert Hoover Middle School.

UC Theatre

UC Theatre...where The Rocky Horror Picture Show took place back in the day.  I now work two buildings down is a beautifully restored Berkeley Historical building.  Wish the same could be said for this once theatrical gem.
